WEDDING REVEAL: INVITATIONS

So far, I think my invites have been my favorite thing about my wedding.  We wanted something classic and formal but with a modern feel.


I found a fabulous Etsy shop: Invita Paper Studio and chose a design from the Twine Collection:  Love Always.  {our actual invites are the example!}  Up until that point we knew our wedding colors were black and white but had yet to choose an accent color.  Based on one of Invita's sample we went with khaki and it turned out beautifully.  I loved the detail of the baker's twine and little tag.  Take a look:

Adriana {the designer} was so wonderful to work with.  We wanted to do addressing from the computer to save time and gray hairs.  I emailed Adriana to ask for the names of the font and she replied with the actual fonts attached!  I was so excited that everything in the invite suite matched perfectly!

FRIDAY FAVORITES 8

It's been awhile since I did a favorites but here are a few things I've been loving lately:

Favorite New Outfit

I'll be debuting this one tomorrow at the Country Music Marathon.  Brooks shoes, nike shirt and shorts - love being matchy matchy on race day {wish me luck}!

Favorite Polish

I am obsessed with this nudey-peachy color.  This brand is new to me, Motives by Loren...the color {Girl Next Door} is unavailable online but my lovely nail chick let me buy it from her for $4!  Sold!

Favorite Twist

J.Crew chino shorts - no brainer - love!  But I've had trouble lately feeling like I'm too old for the 3" shortie shorts and not mom enough for the 5"ers.  Enter...4" chinos!  This lengths is perfect but only available online.  I ordered Ornament Orange and Shadow for the h-moon.

Favorite Project

Prepare for an epic wedding reveal post on my invites...until now stick with this teaser.  Mom and I devoted a whole Sunay and a half to these and I am in love!

Favorite Obsession

Buying clothes for my new {1 month old} niece!  I can't stop.  Kohl's has adorable things and they're always on sale!  Pictured above are my latest indulgences - don't you just want to scream!?

DIY: PERSONALIZED STATIONARY

Being engaged, I am going to be writing a lot of Thank You notes between now and June 30th.  I wanted a cute personalized stationary but couldn't settle on one color scheme or a decent price.

After finding this pin I had a fab idea:  Get some blank stationary, a monogram stamp and bam...monogram stationary!

I ordered a monogram stamp from this great Etsy shop: Jackbear Stamps.  He was super easy to work with, very quick to message and was open to any fonts or design that I wanted.  My final product:

WEDDING REVEAL: S.T.D.s

STD = Wedding lingo for Save the Dates....took me a minute to get that.  :)

So this is my first wedding reveal post - my Save the Dates.  For my wedding, it's been tough to balance my reasonable budget with my love of paper goods.  For my STDs, I found an idea on Pinterest that I immediately fell for and just new that I was going to DIY it.

Chevron + kraft paper and I was hooked.  This was such a simple concept, I knew I could make it work.

The long rewarding process:

Notes:

1.  I looked all over for a large stamp or stencil of a chevron print and could not find anything!  I was shocked.  So I bought stencil film and traced a chevron pattern on it and cut it out.  I then used your basic white craft paint and foam stencil brushes and that's where it got tedious.  My mom and I painted each and every one of the 80 STDs.  {Our paper was kraft scrapbook paper cut in half}

2.  After each of the pages were painted and dry, we ran them through the printer twice.  On the painted side, we printed addresses {ours and theirs} and a little note: "we're getting married"

3.  On the other side we printed a June calendar with our date circled, the city, our names and our wedding website.  The design was very simple, created in Microsoft Word with a downloaded font.

4.  Using a glue stick and scrapbooking photo corners, we inserted our picture {printed as a 3 1/2 x 5}.  This picture was taken about 4 years ago, at the beginning of our relationship.  We were out hiking and another couple offerred to take our picture and it turned out to be epic!  Even though we'd only known each other for 6 months, I thought that would be the perfect pic for a Save the Date.

5.  All folded up and ready to go {sans postage}.

6.  The guests would see our little note on the back before opening.  We also added clear sticker seals to keep the package closed during processing.

Although these Save the Dates took longer than anticipated to complete, I am so proud of them and received many compliments.  Sadly, my fiance and parents vetoed d.i.y. invites because of my level of stress while finishing these.  Another downside to these handmade announcements was that we have added some guests to the list since making these but don't have anymore STDs to send out.
